App Only : Filpkart Not Shutting Down The Website
E-commerce giant Flipkart seems to have changed its mind of moving completely on mobile. Yes, as per the latest buzz doing the rounds, the strong online retailer has put his ‘app only’ plan on hold for some time.
There were speculations doing the rounds that the e-commerce portal will soon move over to mobile and shut down its desktop version. But as per the latest reports that seems unlikely and September being speculated the month for this transition seems to be out of the question.
The reason behind company’s plan B is said to be the vendors who are not convinced with the idea of moving completely to mobile. While talking to a leading business daily, the company’s spokesperson has said, “We are constantly experimenting with various aspects of our service to create the best shopping experience for our users on our app. Meanwhile, we continue to offer both desktop as well as mobile option for our customers.”
The company claims that its mobile app drives at least 70 to 75% of the total traffic that lands on Flipkart. As the new India is using internet on smartphones, e-tailers push mobile applications, as they provide more data on users, which further allows them to personalize the user experience. As a result, company flashes the products according to a users taste and preference.
Keeping these factors aside, the sellers who are showcasing high-value goods on the website have a different view, they claim that completely moving to mobile appwould disrupt a user’s ability to check out the product properly, as certain products require bigger show window.
After vendors not ready for ‘app–only’ move, it would have to be seen how Flipkartplays its cards!
